“From Hovels to Hotel” special exhibition for October (from 1-25 October) in Dunblane Museum’s Goddard Gallery is Exhibition in Dunblane Museum will describe and illustrate the history of how Scottish Churches House, latterly Old Churches House Hotel, came to Dunblane resulting from the work of the Society of Friends of Dunblane Cathedral. In the 1930s they purchased dilapidated houses in Kirk Street and successfully resisted the Town Council’s attempts to have them demolished. In 1959 they handed them over to the Ecumenical Council to make an ecumenical retreat and conference centre. The exhibition in the museum will describe the history of these events, using original documents from the time.
