Activities in Dunblane Museum for children

Knitted Mice Trail

All around the museum, little knitted mice are hiding beside objects from Dunblane’s past. Simply seacrh for, and find, all of the knitted mice.

You can also use Dunblane Museum digital guide to have a go at the fun actvities with each knitted mouse.

Each mouse has a tiny activity for you to try — something quiet, simple, and fun. You might pretend to fly like an old aeroplane, stand tall like the two saints on the souvenirs, draw in the air like children once did on slates, or guess how big a broken pot used to be.

Every activity helps you explore the museum in a new way — by looking closely, imagining, moving gently, and noticing the stories objects can tell.

When you find a mouse, listen carefully to its instructions. You don’t need to touch anything, and you can do all the activities right where you are.

Stamping machines

You can find the stamping machines in Cathedral Room 1. Each stamp makes a picture of an object in Dunblane Museum, in different rooms.

  1. Take a piece of paper from the shelf below the stamping machines.
  2. Line up one of the circles under a stamp machine.
  3. Press the lever down.
  4. Once you have got all of the stamps you can see if you can find the real things in Dunblane Museum.

Build your own castle
